Quick CNC milling project was cut out MDF for architectural company doing apartment renovation on upper west side in NYC. MDF panels covering steam radiators will be painted to blend in to aesthetic design making them less intrusive. CNC was chosen to cut panels because there will be no burn mark on edge of material and at 3/4″ thickens cutting panel with CNC will be faster then cutting it with laser.
LaserCutZ is not only about lasers! We have other machines such as CNC mills, in case this project its 5-axis CNC which was used to customize existing retail display cabinets. We used CNC with single 1.5″ end mill bid to expend sliding slot of the drawer. CNC produces perfect, sharp cuts on wood, those of course can be done with hand router but with machine work results are much more precise and consistent form parts to part.
Brooklyn local supermarket needed to replace spastic curtains in bread cabinet with something aesthetically better looking yet functional to protect bread on shelf. LaserCutZ fabricated policarbonate doors and installed them on existing cabinet walls. Polycarbonate was chosen because it is indestructible material which is prefect for retail environment. Polycarbonate is also used in bulletproof window laminates, if its bent, hit with anything it will not brake unlike acrylic which is very fragile and tend to crack and break easily. Disadvantages of poly is it needs to be CNC milled which increase ist production cost. Either way LaserCutZ can fabricate any retail display cabinets weather it is acrylic, poly or real silica glass
Client in Bumbo, Brooklyn had laser head collision causing head mount to bend a bit which lead to improper cuts. Unfortunately that laser machine was made by Bodor and company likes to make all parts custom instead of using industry standard components. When we tried to get replacement parts from them they said its no longer available and they don’t even produce that machine model (even though machine was made in 2019 which is 3 years ago)
To handle laser repair we reverse engineered part and manufactured it ourselves. Luckily this is just a few hours trace and part can be milled on CNC so for LaserCutZ it was not to complex to make our own custom part especially as we build custom machines. Even if your machine is perfect there always room for improvements to make it better or add additional functionality. This time we doing a handson modification to our own cnc by adding simple but effective tweaking to make it much more precipice. This aluminum center cup was custom milled to the shape of specific custom wheal and then laser engraved on mopa fiber laser with AMG logo to show the style and importance of luxury S65. Project features thin lines along the tree and piston line and deep recess into aluminum in the rest of the artwork. Final product will get polished and clear powder coated. As wheal are fully custom and center cups are custom too this will be great addition to make a unique car even more unique!
Polycarbonate is very durable material that is not brital like acrylic, it does not crack, chip or brake. You can bend polycarbonate and it will still not brake, you can hummer it and it will not brake, that is why it is used in armored screens and glass laminates. Laser is not best to cut polycarbonate as it will release harmful gases so to cut it we use CNC and we mill it. CNC milled plastic has nice as soft edge and is ready to be installed in various projects. LaserCutZ can provide CNC milling services in NYC and NJ.
