Exploring new possibilities we started to experiment with sewing and stitching as we do lots of fabric laser cutting of patterns this seams logical. In this experiment we reversed engineered Mercedes roadster shifter knob leather pouch. It took quite bit of revisions as original leather was stretched over time so new patterns traced from original part did not much shifter ring. At the end we got very good fit of pattern that we can stitch and stretch. Sample photo shows test cut and sewed in suede fabric. Next we will do the same in leather. We will also add laser printed pattern on leather same as we did for Lamborghini project as this add extra nice looks. Though current mod was swapped from black to red color which looks fairly aggressive on carbon fiber interior.

Patterns provided are DXF file in metric (mm) units. Those are designed for laser cutting but can be cut by hand and stretching loops can be sliced with xacto knife, though we only tried cutting with laser as thats what we do every day. Note file is universal for both sides so same file needs to be mirrored (flipped) for a second part. We made everything as one part instead of two as in original as it seams easier to have one file. For this reason please watch direction and orientation of stretch pins they need to much location of loops when you sew parts together. We used Juki quilting machine to stitch this together. Center joint offset about 10mm, then flattening stitches are about 3-4mm to the side (foot center follow joint line and needle in far left or far right form it, stitched form back do bobbin thread is exposed)
Brooklyn local supermarket needed to replace spastic curtains in bread cabinet with something aesthetically better looking yet functional to protect bread on shelf. LaserCutZ fabricated policarbonate doors and installed them on existing cabinet walls. Polycarbonate was chosen because it is indestructible material which is prefect for retail environment. Polycarbonate is also used in bulletproof window laminates, if its bent, hit with anything it will not brake unlike acrylic which is very fragile and tend to crack and break easily. Disadvantages of poly is it needs to be CNC milled which increase ist production cost. Either way LaserCutZ can fabricate any retail display cabinets weather it is acrylic, poly or real silica glass
LaserCutZ produces fast turnaround tags for NYC piano manufacturer. Those metal brass tags are fiber laser cut to size and shape and then fiber laser engraved with any artwork needed. Variable serial numbers can be added to all tags. This is ideal for short run extremely excursive product runs such is the case with those Disney pianos. Tag surfaces can be made to anything that client requires, it can be mirror finished, brushed, patina or any special custom texturing. Aluminum is one of the hardest material to weld but it is NOT a problem for LaserCutZ team. This overflow tan was cut from aluminum sheet metal on our fiber laser cutting machine, then it was TIG welded to shape with observation window and hose connectors and filling cup. Reservoir window is very nice as you can see both level of fluid and its color (quality). Very often we are asked to fabricate aluminum and stainless liquid tanks for various industries such as pharmaceutical, aerospace and automotive. Picture below shows acrylic sheet laser cut with CO2 laser then through hole was countersunk with a cnc bid and to make appearance nice and smooth it was flame polished. Aside from drilling LaserCutZ can do acrylic edge polishing and routing.
Can you laser cut paper without burn marks? LaserCutZ can do that. We use custom cold laser that does not leave any burn marks on paper. Conventional CO2 lasers burn paper alot as they set material on fire and put fire out with air assist while cold laser just evaporates material. Our special tech allows to cut very intricate designs without any burning. This innovation allows production of projects with very high quality and extreme detalization.
Lots of 6061 aluminum sheets have been fiber laser cut into small 2×2″ squares that will be used for art installation in NYC. 6061 is most popular aluminum alloy as it shows light weight properties along with fairly decent strength.
