This extreme large format solid glass panel was UV printed with translucency making it work as a light box with LED back lighting. In this projects LaserCutZ did a color UV printing directly onto a ash wood shelves. Printed artwork is a bunch of random colored lines forming a pattern, this job could of been done with laser and then color filled for durability but client wanted to try fully digital printing application. Results came out very impressive. Texture some what reminds us Coach custom skate board project that we did few years ago.

LaserCutZ is not only about lasers! We have other machines such as CNC mills, in case this project its 5-axis CNC which was used to customize existing retail display cabinets. We used CNC with single 1.5" end mill bid to expend sliding slot of the drawer. CNC produces perfect, sharp cuts on wood, those of course can be done with hand router but with machine work results are much more precise and consistent form parts to part.

Exploring new possibilities we started to experiment with sewing and stitching as we do lots of fabric laser cutting of patterns this seams logical. In this experiment we reversed engineered Mercedes roadster shifter knob leather pouch. It took quite bit of revisions as original leather was stretched over time so new patterns traced from original part did not much shifter ring. Brooklyn local supermarket needed to replace spastic curtains in bread cabinet with something aesthetically better looking yet functional to protect bread on shelf. LaserCutZ fabricated policarbonate doors and installed them on existing cabinet walls. Polycarbonate was chosen because it is indestructible material which is prefect for retail environment. Polycarbonate is also used in bulletproof window laminates, if its bent, hit with anything it will not brake unlike acrylic which is very fragile and tend to crack and break easily.
